Class Descriptions

Algebra 1 - This is an introduction to algebra or advanced arithmetic. Topics covered include real numbers, solving equations, solving inequalities, polynomials, factoring, rational expressions, systems of linear equations, roots, radicals, exponents and quadratic equations. Books and other class materials are provided for free. The prerequisite for this class is basic arithmetic: integers, fractions, decimals, percentages, exponents and roots. This class meets two hours per week. (Access a basic arithmetic test here and the solutions here.)

Geometry - This is an introduction to geometry. The unifying theme of this course is the study of space. Topics covered include lines, triangles, quadrilaterals, polygons, circles, planes, cylinders, cones, spheres, polyhedra and analytic geometry. This class will also introduce students to proofs. Books and other class materials are provided for free. The prerequisite for this class is basic arithmetic: integers, fractions, decimals, percentages, exponents and roots. This class meets two hours per week.

CLEP Algebra 2 - This is an intermediate algebra course. The unifying theme of this course is the study of functions. Topics covered include linear, quadratic, polynomial, rational, exponential, logarithmic, conic, complex, sequential and matrix functions. This course prepares students to take the CLEP (College Level Examination Program) College Algebra test for college credit if desired. The CLEP test is optional and not required. Books and other class materials are provided for free. The prerequisite for this class is Algebra 1. This class meets two hours per week.

CLEP Precalculus - This class prepares students for calculus. Topics covered include trigonometry, analytical geometry as well as symbolic, graphical and tabular representations of functions. This course prepares students to take the CLEP (College Level Examination Program) Precalculus test for college credit if desired. The CLEP test is optional and not required. Books and other class materials are provided for free. The prerequisite for this class is Algebra 2. This class meets two hours per week.

AP Calculus AB - This is an introduction to calculus. The unifying theme of this course is the study of change. Topics covered include derivatives, slopes, limits, continuity, extrema, concavity, integrals and the calculation of various types of areas and volumes. This course prepares students to take the AP (Advanced Placement) Calculus AB test for college credit if desired. The AP test is optional and not required. (This course has been audited by the College Board and approved.) Books and other class materials are provided for free. The prerequisite for this class is Precalculus. This class meets two hours per week.

AP Physics B - This is an introduction to physics. The unifying theme of this course is the study of the fundamental laws of nature. Topics covered include Newtonian physics, conservation laws, fluid mechanics, vibrations, waves, electricity, magnetism, optics and modern developments. Books and other class materials are provided for free. The prerequisite for this class is Precalculus. Concurrent enrollment in Precalculus is acceptable. Calculus is not a requirement. This class meets two hours per week.

Teacher

I, Christian Seberino, have a Ph.D. in physics from the University of California, San Diego. I've been programming and using physics and calculus for over 20 years. I've worked in government, industry and academia. I've done much teaching in my career and in my church. You can see a copy of my resume here. You can see a copy of my teaching philosophy here. You can access a background check by following the instructions here. I am also a Christian homeschooler with two kids. You can read my testimony here.
